Flower Power

Well Hello There!
I can't even begin to tell you what's been going on with me these days but I'm here with another quick post of my crazy amazing thrift store find! I mean really who gives this amazing stuff away! But one woman's trash is, well you know the rest. My first find was a bold floral print blazer for only $7.99! It was giving me school teacher realness. I knew exactly what I would pair this with to give it a touch of fall.

My 2nd find was a grey boyfriend cardigan from my favorite local thift. The black floral pattern gave me the instant satisfaction of playing with patterns.  This cardigan was $5.99! Talk about a win.

I think blazers complete every fall look and should be in every females wardrobe!

Hope you all enjoyed these looks!

xoxo,
Toni Lakeysha

Pattern Play

Hey Guys!
I guess I spoke too soon about Old Man Winter and his games. haha. Weather in the DMV made its way up to 64° yesterday!! And I tell you man people see a little sun and bring back their summer clothes lol. Shorts, flip flops and long sleeve shirts are not my style. I decided to bring out a little vintage treasure to celebrate such amazing weather. I traveled to the best neighborhood in town to find the best finds. This printed floral blazer spoke words to me when I saw it and it had to come home with momma!

I matched this little beauty with a cream and black chiffon blouse, a basic pair of leggings and my Isabel Marant inspired wedge sneakers. And on my hip, my favorite Betsey Johnson Satchel!

Winter’s coming but I ain't mad at these nice days we are having. Me and my closet appreciate it!

Outfit Details are down below :)

Falling for the Fall!

Hey Lovies!

Looks like Old Man Winter is trying to break up such a beautiful fall with all of this icy cold weather we are having here in the DMV. But I refuse to let him or any bad weather ruin my favorite time to play dress up. Fall is the best season because you can play around with so many layers and so many colors!

I was able to catch a glimpse of sunlight this afternoon and I decided to throw a few prints together to run errands. Without being too daring I paired a mid-sleeve striped peplum with a polka dotted blazer that I thrifted a few months back from the Goodwill. For my lower half I threw on a pair of Jersey leggings and my favorite combat boots. As an added accessory I wore my new favorite tube scarf from H & Ms fall collection.

Hopefully us fashion lovers get at least a few more months out of this fall weather because I know my closet is just jumping with so many fall prints and colors that are all waiting to be worn!

Power Circle (DMV Power Meet and Greet)

Hello Again!

This past Saturday I attended my first meet and greet at the San Antonio Grill and Bar in Alexandria, VA. The event was hosted by Brandie (Lashesandstilettos on IG) and Tori (Kokoapearls on IG) two of my favorite plus size fashion idols. When I saw the meet and greet details on Instagram, I had to push the shy feelings to the side and come out and meet them and all the other lovely ladies in the DMV who we fashion bugs like myself. Plus I’m always game for happy hour!!!

Amoungst the hundreds of fly pieces I had in my closet I didn’t want to over do it and at the same time I didn’t want to be too cliche. Now anybody who knows me knows I'm such a last minute person I picked out the first thing I saw which was this simple black and white skater dress. To dress it up and give it the Toni Lakeysha stamp of approval I paired the dress with my favorite royal blue pointy toe heels a black waist belt and my favorite chunky braclets!

I commited my self to trying to break out of my shell and meet new people and i must say I never met a better group of girls. I was able to take so much from their conversations and I look forward to learning more from these ladies.

Here's a few shots from the DMV Power Meet and Greet!

An Ode To Summer

Hey Guys!!

These past few days have allowed us all in the DMV to be able to catch a cool cool breeze while still enjoying the rest of these summer days! Although I've only been catching it to and from work, I just knew when I stepped out I had to show out. So before the cold weather hit us I decided to search way in my closet to see what I could dig up. Two summers ago I purchased this floral print blouse from Old Navy, only because it was on clearance. I never intended to wear it with nothing but a pair of jeans. I never was the type to wear floral print, I dunno it just screams plus size to me. Today as I was getting ready to toss it into my Goodwill pile, the bold orange and blue stems spoke loud begging me for another chance. So I paired it with this royal blue maxi skirt that I purchased from Ross (I couldn't leave it because it gave me that Kenya Moore "Gone With The Wind Fabulous" feeling!) Threw on some accessories, a little BB Cream and lipstick and was out on the town turning up!! I think I did the summer proud with this one and I think I found a new staple piece with this maxi!

I'm Finally Ready to Say Welcome

Well Hello There!!

I’m Tonae :) Like most girls I dream of being blessed with Giuseppe shoes, Chanel handbags, or even a simple $5,000 shopping spree to Forever 21…I mean is that really too much to ask for??  But like most people my age (I’m 24) I’m pretty sure your wallet has more responsible things in mind. I’m all for the challenge of creating the look without spending top buck for it. I am a lover of all things thrifted or on sale. I’m not going to lie I splurge from time to time too tehe…

Let’s get personal since we are becoming friends and all! I am a size 16/18, XL shirt, and a Size 8.5 or 9 in shoes (I have some chubby little feet but I’m sure most of you all share my pain.) Lol.…

So much for a formal introduction right!!

I’m aware that there are TONS of “FAT”shion bloggers out here typing their little fingers away and showing their finds to all who wants to see (I know because I spend many sleepless nights exploring them!) I’ve put off starting a blog for the past year and I finally told myself to strap on my big girl panties and give this thing a try.. So here goes nothing.. As I evolve and continue to grown and mature, I hope my blog does too. As much as I think it's important to be represented, to have places for plus girls to go to see great looking girls in inspiring clothes that look like them, I want my readers to come in all sizes and I appreciate that girls (and boys) size 0 or 28 understand what I'm about and wearing.

I'm looking forward to sharing more with you! What I do, what I like, what pieces I need in my life, the people that are giving me life and OF COURSE WHAT I’M WEARING!! This is my personal style blog but will include natural hair, beauty, lifestyle and whatever else tickles my fancy. There’s so much more I want to say but until next time. KEEP IT CUTE!
